Hi, After about a week of tinkering here and there, I can finally say that 9.2 is now usable. What did I do?
Firstly, I used Mandrake Update and downloaded all updates from the Mandrake Mirror. ( I used the swedish site which was quite fast ). There are about 150Mb of updates. This fixed the disappearing menus problem.... Secondly, I updated & installed some software which was missing on the download edition. This included opera, gaim, gnutella, plugins such as java, flash, acrobat, plugger, realplayer for mozilla. Thirdly, after much midnight oil-burning, managed to fix the IDE ZIP driver problem. It seems Mandrakes' installer appended 'hdd=ide-scsi' for the ZIP drive which screwed it up. Changed to ide-floppy in lilo.conf & it now works fine. K3b is also working fine....just burned my first CD this morning... Internet connection sharing with my windoze machine was enabled much to my sons delight. Now for SAMBA...... :-) Joseph
