As you know, I'm trying to get SAMBA to work. This moning I changed my
machine's hostname from 'localhost.localdomain localhost' to
'keith.atomserv.net keith'. I restart, and suddenly X won't start, giving the
error:
XIO: fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server ":0.0"
after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events remaining.
I know there must be a simple solution to this one, but I can't find it.
Would GREATLY appreciate any help,

probably you simply need to export the display:
DISPLAY=keith.atomserv.net:0.0; export DISPLAY
Then start X.
If it works, put that line inside /etc/profiles or in your local .profile.
