I have a linux box with a 120Gb hdd. I might be getting another 120Gb to put in this box. Is there a command I can use to mirror one hard disk on the other? So that if something happens to hard disk A, I can just set Hard disk B as master and everything will be fine?

I know I could use raid, but that would mean I have to format the drive, right?

Also, the sytem I describe above isn't that good since if something bad happens to one hard disk and the command is run (via cron job) before I notice something's wrong, then error will be copied to hard disk B too. Is there a REALLY CHEAP way I can backup my entire system (not just conf. files) that allows me to store more then one backup (like tapes)?hi
