Okay, people, let us all calm down for a moment.

ISPs in all the world will do some form on bandwidth limitation somewhere on
their network. This is what enables you to collect your email or read
cnn.com instead of Bob-Two-Doors-Down gobbling all the available bandwidth
to download his collectors edition of 'Debbie does Dallas'.

Bandwidth limitation may be a bitch, but in Malta where bandwidth is very,
*very* expensive (when compared to mainland Europe) it at least provides us
with the ability to use our connections. An ISP will not (if they are
sensible) impose the same limits 24/7. Corporate customers (who use during
the day mostly) need more access than regular domestic users (who use during
the evenings). At weekends things may be different, but in any case any form
of bandwidth limitation will take into account the type of traffic an
regulate depending.

And and a trick for my namesake: Use a well known port for your application.

If anyone here is unhappy about their ISP, change ISP. Check the ISP
beforehand though. Talk to others who are current users (not friends of
friends) and check out the ISP infrastructure, ie. is the ISP simply two
2600 series Cisco boxes under someones bed.

BTW, 'sims', which ISP do you use??

Regs.

Iain.
