Well, here's what Vodafone gave me:

AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet"

Which matches the document James sent.

However, still no joy:

Jul 28 16:31:40 expat-d420 chat[9516]: send (AT^M)
Jul 28 16:31:40 expat-d420 chat[9516]: expect (OK)
Jul 28 16:31:40 expat-d420 chat[9516]: ^M
Jul 28 16:31:40 expat-d420 chat[9516]: OK
Jul 28 16:31:40 expat-d420 chat[9516]: -- got it
Jul 28 16:31:40 expat-d420 chat[9516]: send (AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet"^M)
Jul 28 16:31:40 expat-d420 chat[9516]: expect (OK)
Jul 28 16:31:40 expat-d420 chat[9516]: ^M
Jul 28 16:31:40 expat-d420 chat[9516]: ^M
Jul 28 16:31:40 expat-d420 chat[9516]: ERROR^M

Jul 28 16:31:40 expat-d420 pppd[9513]: Connect script failed
Jul 28 16:31:41 expat-d420 pppd[9513]: Exit.

...am off for a pint. Will stab again later.

Iain.
