Hello All, Linux is beautiful! A friend called me yesterday asking for help, as he could not startup his laptop. The thing just starts up, playing the Windows startup tune, then immediately plays the shutdown tune, and stops there. Tried using 'safemode', the same again. With just the Linux Mint Live CD I could determine if it was a case of hardware or software problem. Searching through his 'temp' files I found that he had a bad case of infiltration namely something called Ms Antivirus 2009, and also some file called 2.tmp.exe. I think that this is a very strong point for promoting Linux both to the technical user, and the end user alike. I have actually convinced my friend to install Linux along side Windows, and use Windows only in exceptional cases, therby avoiding any nasty things to happen again.
