Don't forget we are meeting up next Sat ;) My preference would be to not combine these meetings as they have very different formats, cater to different people and have different objectives. The MLUG meetings have a committee format with minutes, specific topics to discuss, a chairperson etc, and are held in the morning in a garage. They are aimed mainly at people interested in furthering the uptake of Linux and open source in Malta. The Linux Live event, as far as I understand, is due to have a conference format with speakers and an audience. Apart from the breaks there will be little chance for interaction. The aim is to inform a wider group of people, mainly students, lecturers and business people, of the merits of Linux and open source. The Ubuntu parties, based on the one event so far, are social events held in a restaurant in the evening where Linux enthusiasts can chat and have fun. Not wishing to knock the garage in any way but it's warm, there are enough chairs to go round, there's no agenda, there's food and drink and there's a toilet. All the formats are valuable for their own objectives but I don't think they can be combined as they are not substitutes for each other. Alan and I were, I think, the only regular attendees of the MLUG meetings to go to the Ubuntu party. It would be good if we could have the pleasure of the company of more MLUG members next time. I don't think that using Ubuntu is a prerequisite - everyone is welcome.
