I will CC him in my next email if he can be of any help although SixXS have
been very helpfully till now. Currently we are waiting for the technical
details when applying for the PoP which are related to the actual ISP. BMIT
need to OK some stuff and UoM will be riding on the success of Bellnet
Surfnet Genet who already act as a PoP for educational purposes through the
Geant network. We are going through the AUP right now.

With regards to latency:
1) My current subnet hosted at nlams04 doesn't suffer from such a bad
latency
2) One of the benefits of operating a local PoP is to cut down on
international latency when two geographically close nodes in Malta need to
talk across international bandwidth, given that the local node is not
saturated
