hi All,

thanks for your replies. In brief:

@paul. yes I had already visited that page b4 I decided to query on mlug
list. Beagle search software looks promising but for some reason I cannot
install it. simple sudo get-app beagle says it cannot find the application
and the site of beagle-project.org is offline. Honestly speaking I haven't
hunted the web for the file. thank you nonetheless!

@warren. a few months ago I had installed wubi and but never used linux. 2
weeks ago I decided I need something fresh in my life so I deleted \windows
:)

This computer is situated at home but used for work purposes. At the moment
I am circumventing my search problem by team-viewing into a windows laptop
and running the searches. But this is a temporary solution cause I need to
have 2 pcs switched on and team-view / remote desktop is ugly.

@anton. The problem is that google-desktop is not supported any longer and
I cannot install it.

Probably what I will do is try to find an older version of google dekstop
which may have been archived by a some very nice person somewhere. The
problem is that such version would be pretty old because recent versions of
that app were downloaded during installation, rather than being sent as one
big zip file.
