Hello mluggers!

I've been fighting with the on-board wireless (Intel 3954) in my T60
ever since I got it. At home it works perfectly, good speeds and the
connection never drops out. But if I bring it anywhere where a bunch of
people are using the same access point the connection drops frequently
and it takes a significant amount of time for it to come back.
Restarting the network manager daemon normally speeds things up but it's
still very annoying.

Anyway, there are two cards supported by this hardware: the Intel 3945
and another one with an Atheros chipset (part number 40Y7026). I found a
few places selling it online but I'd rather not pay upwards of $50 (damn
shipping charges) only to find out that the Atheros card is a POS too.

So if anyone has one of these cards or knows where I can get one, please
let me know. I'm tired of barely being able to use my laptop at school.

BTW, the reason I can't just swap any mini-PCI express wireless card in
place of the old one is because the BIOS has a white-list of supported
cards (determined by the PCI ID) and will refuse to boot if a
"non-supported" card is plugged in. Shitty, eh?

Thanks,

nick
