Hi Gord I am on the periphery of the security world ( I teach it not do it) but I may have a lead or two. I was at the BSides security conference in Ottawa last September. I will look through the presenter list an see if I can find someone. The is the owasp.org group who are in the application security field. There is an active group running in Ottawa.(https://www.owasp.org/index.php/Ottawa) I am not sure about montreal.
There was a mtlsec group meeting casually a few year ago and they were pen test companies or people. It has not met in a while. I will see if I can dig up some contacts in the next day or two.
