Hi, I have been creating picture flashcards using images from google

only the thumbnails are used, and this is obviously for educational

What do you mean 'more than fair use'? Fair use is only at most fair use, and
often is less. There's a reason Wikipedia tries to minimize fair use - it's not
a license, is very risky, and courts aren't too friendly to it.

I am trying to create a thorough picture dictionary for French and
Spanish using google image search.

Too bad you couldn't've started with Flickr (filtering by CC licenses) and
Wikimedia Commons (with its millions of images). Then you wouldn't have to
worry about fair use. But I suppose you've gotten enough images by now that you
don't want to start over.
