Alas! ' mnemosyne ' may be the answer to my prayers!

Systematically I have used SM-7 since 2000 to support my learning of
Italian (22 000 items) and history, later also French (10 000 items)

These databases of course has become very valuable to me.

Every know and then i have loooked at newer versions of SM, but I
always get put off
by the overloaded, confusing, not-intuitive user interface. I also
feel that the major part of the new functionality offered is of little
significance to my learning efforts.

Now I fear that it is only a mattwer of time until I am no longer able
to start and maintain my dbs in good old 7.5 for win 3.1 (!!!)

It seems that * mnemosyne * does most of what I need in a safer and
"cleaner" way than SM.

1) Any restrictions when importing from SM 7.5?
- field length, line-breaks, learning information
2) I have found it useful in SM to copy an item, modify it and thus
create a new item. Possible in mnemosyne ?
3) I sometimes take a look at my "leeches" and make them easier or
postpone them befor "reset" . Possible in mnemosyne ?
4) I keep my learning topics in separate databases (one for Italian,
and another for history) Possible in mnemosyne ?
5) As a work around to improve SM search I've initated some items with
fixed code, eg. "C-TIV" to indicate topic is abut congiuntivo (mode of
verb, grammar) or IMP to indicate Imperative. How do I solve this in
mnemosyne ?
6) For bulk update of new learning I create "Q: / A:" doucument in
Notepad before import. Similar possibility in mnemosyne ?
5) When testing mnemosyne the text in all cards were centered. I
prefer align right. Possible
6) Can I manipulate cards (postpone for a veeery long time, change
order etc)

Thanks in advance!
