Stupid me ;) I went from 2.3.6 to 2.4.1. The OS is macOS Sierra 10.12.4. I've tried to remove the mnemosyn app and add it again without any luck. I can recall that few versions ago there was similar issue. I believe it was fixed by adding mplayer to the mnemosyne build.
