The 'import data' is meant to be used in conjunction with 'export data' on 
Android, so the file format is different. As far as I remember, it's a 
zipped file which contains your database.

(*.cards files would not be a good choice anyway, because they don't 
contain review history).

If your IP doesn't change too often, the sync protocol will really be much 
more convenient...
