Chris Kitching's sizable rework of Fennec's favicons system -- Bug 914296 -- finally hit mozilla-central this morning. That means it'll be in tomorrow's Nightly.
Congratulations and kudos to Chris, Margaret, and the huge support team of drive-by reviewers who got this done with negligible fallout on landing. Please be on the lookout for regressions, performance oddities, etc. related to favicons being displayed in the URL bar and in top sites/history. (You should immediately see that things look better, too!) Any issues, please file and block Bug 914296. Further thoughts on improvements for the favicon system are marked as dependencies of that bug, and more wide-ranging ideas are in Bug 926139.
