Yeah I think it will be good to investigate again. Specially if we have
reports about app startup being very slow on iPad.

I think the iPad 2 was actually also mentioned in the Github issue that I
linked to. Someone said that the difference between iPad Air and iPad 2 was
like 3 vs 8 seconds.

What I find interesting is that all signs point to dynamic frameworks being
the culprit here. One thing we could do is embed a few frameworks
statically as a test and see if that improves things.

Another good hint from that Github issue was that you can hit Suspend in
the debugger when the splash screen is shown. That should give some idea
what the app is actually doing at that time.

I don't want to give up too soon. And I wonder if any of this is related to
the crash that is being reported that takes down the whole iPad. Or
SpringBoard (unclear from bug reports - since the black screen with white
apple shows in both cases)
