(We are following the Android team here and going to be more public about the things we think are important to work on for the upcoming release. This is also an opportunity to raise concerns and ask questions about items and priorities. Please tell us what you think.)
Hi friends, We are at the start of the Firefox for iOS 4.0 cycle. Here is a tentative list of items that we think we are important. Note that our feature list is always a work in progress, a goal and not a commitment. We review the list every week and depending on priorities we may shuffle things around. Sync on Exit https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1168504 This will greatly improve people’s Sync experience. As soon as you background the application, we will start a sync so that your most recent browsing history will go to the cloud and your other devices can pick it up. Choose Logins https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1250526 We have currently disabled login filling in Private Mode. This item will introduce autocompletion on login forms and a way to pick a login if multiple are available. When this work is done we will most likely also disable automatic filling on HTTP sites. Menu https://bugzilla.mozilla.org//show_bug.cgi?id=1210109 We have had a lot of feedback on navigation and doing more with less taps. The menu will be a place where you can easily access tasks like opening a new tab or going to the settings. Combine History Related Home Panels This is about combining the History and Synced Tabs panels into a single panel to make room in the toolbar for an extra button that we will use for the Menu. Setting a Home Page https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1186573 Allows you to set a home page. A special shortcut for a page that you can easily open by tapping the home button in the Menu. Today Widget https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1186573 We are looking at ways to make it easier to start browsing from the iOS Today View. (That you swipe down from the top of the screen). There is a widget to easily open new tabs and also a widget that shows you recent browsing history. Both are optional and will take privacy settings into account. Ability to accept invalid certificates https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1177078 We currently do not show much information about websites with invalid certificates. We just show an error page with no options to continue. This item is about adding better feedback to show why a specific website certificate was rejected and also to give people a change to accept the invalid certificate. Printing via window.open() https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1247848 Support for window.print() so that sites can open a new window with printable content. This is often how airlines handle to “Print my Boarding Pass” buttons. Awesomebar improvements https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1185038 We currently do not search your bookmarks or autocomplete urls from your bookmarks. As always, our work is tracked in our roadmap in Aha!: * https://mozilla.aha.io/products/FIOS/feature_cards (requires account) * https://mozilla.aha.io/published/7a91b67c888b44ee3fe2dcdc46f840cd?page=2 (public) And our schedule is available at https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox_for_iOS_Train_Schedule Best, Stefan _______________________________________________ mobile-firefox-dev mailing list [email protected] https://mail.mozilla.org/listinfo/mobile-firefox-dev
