The European Commission launched a public consultation on the potential risks for children of using mobile phones. Input is invited from any stakeholder, including child safety, parent and consumer organisations, mobile network operators, content providers, handset and network manufacturers, and regulators. The consultation will run until 16 October 2006.
http://europa.eu/rapid/pressReleasesAction.do?reference=IP/06/1059&format=HTML&aged=0&language=EN&guiLanguage=en It would be interesting to see whether the idea that mobile phone use for children might be a danger to health or morale is more widely shared in the Nordic/Germanic and Anglo-Saxon countries than the Latin ones. Reading a newspaper here in France you will probably not find an article about the mobile as a hazard. Another impression from the list of consulted: Unfortunately, research is not visibly on the screen of the EU when it comes to consult. - ft -- ....................................................................
