Hi all, So I was going through my old emails and I stumbled across a few that dealt with what do we call what we do..and Rich's Wikipedia challenge:
> Hello all, > > You have perhaps been following along with the various issues > regarding Wikipedia. There has been some mischief (or perhaps > worse) in terms of biographies and there has also been a comparison > between Wikipedia and the Encyclopedia Britannica that finds > Wikipedia pretty much up to speed on its technical articles. > > I looked up mobile communication and also mobile telephone and I > found that while there is a lot of technical stuff there is really > no discussion regarding the social side of mobile communication. > In addition, this group probably represents much of the world's > knowledge on the topic and so I put two and two together and > thought that I would ask for the development of a Wikipedia summary > of the social side of mobile communication. Is anybody game? > > It would be good to develop the significant sub-categories and to > flesh them out with our work. > > Let me know if anybody is interested. > > Rich L. > > PS Defamatory bios are not welcome. As well as Howard R.'s response: >If somebody starts a subject or two and alerts the list, I'll be >happy to add to them. Do you have any suggestions about topics that >ought to be added? I might be able to get some of my students to help. So if you do a search on Wikipedia right now for mobile phone or cell phone and also Mobile Communication Studies (a name that the list last year thought to try on -- but we can change it) you will see what I started... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page And let's get this going... Jul 27, 2006 Cell phone dispute tied to choking LEOMINSTER- A city man is charged with attempted murder for allegedly choking his mother Tuesday during a disagreement over her cell phone, according to Leominster District Court records. ...Nidia Baez, 47, who also lives at the Third Street address, told police Mr. Padilla-Baez had programmed several of his friends' telephone numbers into her cell phone, records stated. Ms. Baez decided later that it was her cell phone and she did not want all of these numbers in the phone, so she deleted them, records stated. When Mr. Padilla-Baez came home Tuesday after being away for several days and learned that his friends' numbers had been deleted,he began screaming at his mother, she told police. Mr. Padilla-Baez then allegedly pushed Ms. Baez to the ground, grabbed her throat with his hands and began strangling her. A police officer later saw a slight redness on Ms. Baez's neck, records said.
