Hi all, This reminds me of the school student protests we had here in the Netherlands a week or so ago. Some of these protests ended in violence. It was reported by various media (a.o. national news) that SMS and MSN were used as mobilizing media. I've tried to find some English language sources on this:
--------------- http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7115847.stm Dutch quell school hours protest Police made arrests during clashes and acts of vandalism Twenty-eight school students will face public order charges in Amsterdam, following violent street protests, Dutch police say. ... [Police spokesman] Mr Aben told the BBC News website that the students had "mobilised using internet chatrooms". --------------- http://www.dutchnews.nl/news/archives/2007/11/ thousands_of_school_pupils_joi.php Thousands of school pupils join protest ... Word about the demonstrations - against the official 1,040 hours of lessons a year - was spread using MSN and email. --------------- http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/world/20071126-1328-netherlands- studentprotest.html Dutch students clash with police during protests against increase in classroom hours ...
