Sorry for cross-posting -- maybe this is interesting for some of you: I am co-organizing a workshop about Co-design at MobileHCI 2008.
Kind regards, Marc Steen ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------- CALL FOR PARTICIPATION Workshop: Co-design: Practices, Challenges and Lessons Learned To be held in conjunction with MobileHCI 2008, September 2-5, 2008 in Amsterdam. This workshop is about practices of co-design. The goals of this workshop are: to share experiences from diverse practices, to discuss benefits and challenges, and to jointly articulate lessons learned. We are interested in all sorts of efforts of researchers and designers to cooperate constructively with end-users and to let them influence our projects. Ideally, end-users are involved throughout a project and have active and diverse roles. With co-design we mean to include: user involvement, human-centred design approaches and approaches to constructively cooperating with customers, with people with technical backgrounds and with other stakeholders. Within the scope of the MobileHCI 2008 conference we will focus on co-design for developing mobile products or services and user evaluation in (mobile) contexts. Co-design for mobile applications is especially challenging because people use these in different and unpredictable contexts and for communication and cooperation, which introduces all sorts off social-cultural issues. Interested in participation? We invite practitioners to write and talk about their practices and about challenges which they encountered. We are interested in receiving positioning papers that describe co-design practices and in critical reflection on practices, e.g. in comparisons between approaches or in combinations of approaches. Positioning papers (of approx 2 pages) can be sent to Marc Steen (marc.steen at tno.nl), before May 5, 2008. The organizers will select a maximum 15 people to participate and will notify them of acceptance before May 19, 2008. At least one author of each accepted paper needs to register for the workshop and for the conference.
