hi all.
first of all, this is going to be a long email.
I am going to try to keep it as neat as I can.
so as you know google has rolled out ota for android 1 phones first gen.
if any1 wants help in upgrading their android 1 phones I can help with
ota links.
so I made a jump to it.
and this is not bug in m but most of the features that had to be there
are not there and are effecting us.
1. all, none, and priority.
so if in android l you press the volume key up or down to increase the
ringtone volume you get 3 options near or under the seek slider.
all, none or priority.
this option is gone in android m.
there is a way to get to them though but please don’t enable them.
1. go to quick settings by pulling down the notification panel more
than 1 time until talkback says quick settings.
then go to do not disturb and in that there are options like alarms
only or silent.
now u ask why not to enable anything in this mode?
cause if u enable anything it also mutes the sound of google tts or
any other tts along with media volume so talkback won’t say anything.
how to get out of this mode if u enable?
for me I found the only way out is to take sighted help and disable the option.
there may be other ways but I don’t know about.
2. formatting the phone? got a new device with android m? have Wi-Fi
in your house? then watch out.
in the device setup a lot has changed.
most of the changes are in terms of wordings but there are some
significant changes which I will walk u true.
1. setup takes around 7 to 10 minutes to load.
2. the select a Wi-Fi screen.
even though you don’t select Wi-Fi and are not connected to 1 talkback
announces Wi-Fi signal full.
even if you scroll down the screen to pick your Wi-Fi talkback will
keep reporting Wi-Fi signal full and will not say the name of any
Wi-Fi network.
if you get lucky talkback may announce the name of the network that u
want but as you lift your finger to tap talkback will lose focus and
land on some other Wi-Fi name.
3. from which device do you want to restore your phone?
no problems with talkback on this screen but in this screen you can
select which device you want to restore your new or resetting device
to.
helpful for all who have a lot of phones on their accounts.
4. this is the most helpful screen of all.
if you have another android device you can copy the configurations
from that device.
devices include android to, google watch and nexus player along with
other android phones and tablets.
although I didn’t use this screen but it can be helpful.
5. bug with the keyboard.
this is a bit hard to explain but I will do my best.
and it’s on stock google keyboard.
let’s say if you are just gliding your finger on the qwertyuiop row to
find the key that u want or it can be any row.
you find a key and lift your finger to type it in.
talkback says a key which is next to the key you wish to type or the
key under or above the key but you have inputted the right key.
this only happens sometimes but not always.

ok.
now with all the bugs out of the way let me tell you why you should go
for android m.
1. dose mode.
this mode is the best option in android m.
to enable it go to settings, battery, more options, and battery optimizer.
in the dropdown box select all apps and let it optimize.
sometimes after enabling this feature you may get force close on some
apps just restarting the phone after enabling this feature is a good
idea.
2. using your external storage or memory card as internal storage.
this is also 1 of the best options in android m and will try to solve
storage problems on low end phones and tablets.
on the first boot when you install the ota it will ask u how u want to
use your SD card.
options are portable storage which is how you are used to using it in
android l and internal storage which is a new option.
some warnings if you decide in using the SD card as an internal storage.
1. when you connect your phone to pc your pc will not see your SD card.
2. you will lose all data on your SD card as it will be formatted to
ext3 file system.
3. no file explore on your phone will be able to see your SD card when
used as internal storage.
note.
all the warnings are as of today.
there may be some way to go around them in the future.
3. developer options.
for all who don’t know developer options is enabled by tapping 7 times
on your build number in about phone.
I won’t go over the basics of what u can do with developer options
enabled as already the email is over 6000 characters long.
there is some new network related options in developer options that
can improve performance if you know what options to enable or disable.
4. a detailed memory usage.
If you go to settings, memory u will get a detailed memory usage by
each app which can be sorted as 1 day or 12hrs.
This helps u to find the most memory using app and contact the
developer or find an alternative.

in conclusion I must say android m is an ok os considering its version
6.0 and no ota after release have come so far
