just thought id let anyone who cares know that there are some copies of
various modest mouse seven inches in the bins at other music, in lovely new
york city.
they might also be available on their site, othermusic.com
new mogwai ep is a very pleasurable listen of course. but stupid me was so
excited to see it on the shelf, i grabbed it without looking at it, and its
the import version(not the matador) and doesnt have the xtra 2 songs on it.
dont do what i did. anyone know when the domestic version comes out?
anyone who appreciates seeing deejays perform, try and check out dj shadow on
his "goodwill" tour. i saw him last nite and it was probably the best deejay
set ive ever seen. he did some new, crazy funky upbeat stuff, old stuff,
mixed around lots of unkle songs(putting vocals from the album to other
tracks on the album, and some tracks not on the album, very well done), and
fucked around with some new jurassic 5, and blackalicious stuff. he also
explained that the show was supposed to be him and cut chemist on four
tables, using strictly 45s, but alot of the records were stolen/lost. cut
chemist freaked the lights instead.
NP:
handsome boy modeling school (after one listen, ehh, i dont know yet...you
absolutely have to dig on the "get a
life" samples tho)
cut chemist/dj shadow: 'brainfreeze'
mos def: 'black on both sides' (wow, every song stood out after only one
listen, a
very mature, well crafted, genuine hip hop record. only
disappointment:
mos did two songs with dj premier, only one is on the album)
joy division: 'preston 28 february 1980'
the ex: 'and the weathermen shrug their shoulders'
(what can i say, ive been a hermit the last coupla days.)
xo beep
ps: anyone seen the commercial with the kid from gummo in it, weird.
