Being in the Knoxville and having dealt with the members of Superdrag, I think I ought to chime in here. I can't imagine anyone calling them some of the "greatest songwriters alive"... they basically never play live here because a great many consider them to be an outright joke. There are many bands from Knoxville that are MUCH better, including several that are better at doing the sort of thing Superdrag do. Hell, I'd rather see Skeyebone (a rather derivative but rawking 70s-space-rock Hawkwind/Monster-Magnet hybrid) than Superdrag, who to me are just Yet Another Goddamn Indie Pop-Rock Band. Endorsing bland, generic bands like Superdrag just because they're "kinda like the Pixies" is just sorry. Let's stop living in the late 80s/early 90s, for crying out loud - instead of bobbing yr head for yet another catchy little indie pop band, get yr catchy indie pop on at home and branch out a bit. Hell, I dunno. Sorry to come down on yr opinion, hoss, if you think they're great then I guess that's how it is. Not to mention, and this has no bearing on whether their music is any good, but some of the band members themselves, past & present, leave a whole lot to be desired with their "being a ROCK STAR is hard, and I should know" attitude. Next time you see 'em, ask Johnny "Flame" Davis about his Misfits cover band. np:Mogwai, "kappa" -- ...extensive liner notes and make-believe alien languages... Rev.
