indexing and searching documents on your web server

Hello All, 

I am thinking that this might not be the right place for this question, so forgive me 
for the naiveness.

I am trying to look into tools/modules which could help me index/search the documents 
on my website and provide just a search box for the documents. I have tried 
webglimpse, but had a couple of problems with it. Could someone give me some pointers 
for that ?
