Pb compiling mod_perl (1.21 to 1.24.01)

Hi list

I can't get mod_perl to compile with my apache_source.
I always get ' /usr/bin/ld : cannot find -lgdbm : No such file or 
directory ' with 'make'.
I'm running a Debian 2.2 box, i added /usr/lib to ld.so.conf, and 
libgdbmg1 is installed.
