This sounds like the ppd file got corrupted - it's mixing up the
abstract, author, and install fields. Did you try installing
it as
ppm install http://theoryx5.uwinnipeg.ca/ppmpackages/mod_perl.ppd
If you get an error this way, does the ppm utility work at installing
other modules?
