Upgrading to perl 5.8.0 (newbie question)

Hi,

I have a server which has the following pre-installed on it:
  Apache/1.3.27
  mod_perl/1.27
  Perl/5.6.1

If I upgrade to Perl/5.8.0 will I have to upgrade mod_perl to a newer
version as well?
