You are definitely experiencing the problem I discovered and fixed in APR not so long ago. Check out this message and its thread on the APR development list: http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.apache.apr.devel/6746 Bottom line: 1. Apply the patch. 2. Run ./buildconf, ./configure, make, make install 3. Re-test mod_perl. It should work.
