[no trace of 127.0.0.7] Hm. Looks sane to me. But somehow 'localhost' seems to resolve (sometimes) to 127.0.0.1 on your machine. What does "nslookup localhost" (or any FreeBSD equivalent thereof) say? How does the /etc/nsswitch.conf look like? I still guess that this is a resolver issue, not a modperl one.
