Would anyone like to participate in a short (one-hour) interview about your
experiences since you became interested in the mod or skinhead ways of life?
Even if you do not make the 60s or mod lifestyle or culture a part of
your identity completely, or possibly only aesthetically, I would still like
to interview you.
I need to interview approximately 15 more people in the next two months so
that I can complete my senior sociology thesis project and graduate from the
University of California, Berkeley. I am located in the San Francisco Bay
Area, and would love to interview more people from here, but because of the
internet I am able to interview people all over the world. My AOL Instant
Messenger id is Audmod if you would like to contact me that way and my ICQ
number is 4481298, otherwise just e-mail me at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Ive done a few interviews already this way as well as meeting with people
in person, and they both take around an hour. I am willing to try to meet
with anyone physically or on the internet, anywhere to try to do an
interview. I must admit though that I am looking to interview girls much
more than boys for two reasons: most academic subcultural work has
completely neglected the role of girls, and it is less of a difficulty for
me to find boys to interview. This is not to say that I am unwilling to
interview male mods, skinheads, scooter boys, etc., but I would like to show
that girls contribute more to the scene than books and periodicals such as
Mods! and Scootering show. You will be given complete anonymity, and I will
give you the choice of choosing the name which will appear in the paper. I
really have little to no incentives to offer you to help me, but if the
project works out well there is a chance that it could be published as a
book if I decide to continue it in grad school. Otherwise it will be kept
in the library at U.C. Berkeley, and you can go there and see your name or
chosen name in print. Thanks in advance!
