To my mind the original mods weren't interested in trying to emulate the 
future, and were more into subversion/subterfuge.
Its more a case of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." - what has emerged 
with each new wave of modernism, is always slightly different than before.
It's not about nostalgia, that's why so many modlisters are 
anti-modsmayday(which comes across at times like a Sunday Scooter club, and 
not much else). It's about style, and finding good music.
As has been said before "MOdernist" came from Modern Jazz, and is a bit of a 
mx up with the MOdernist movement - but no relation really.
We are all from a decade of some kind(80's/90's...), why not pick one 
instead of taking what you've been given?
