Maybe we should all get together and have a big group hug, and the old members on the list could start to see that the opinions of the new members is every bit as valid, as those who have been on it for a long time... It does seem that it is a case of itsmyballism, but progress will come to all things, irrespective of those who try to maintain a status quo. Admittedly there have been a few off-the-wall posts from people outside of the genre, and some sort of debate about Topica(which I know nothing of, as I was recommended the list.) - but the more frivoulous elements will drift away in time. New ideas, new people - being receptive to them is all very modernist. An open mind will get you far. Be a sheep, leave. Or...
