went upto Leicester this weeknd and popped into weirdo bookshop Secular
books. Got Sabotage In the American Workplace, real real interesting, has
given me loads of new ideas, also picked up Richard Allen Volume 5, the one
with Mod Rule and the punk un and the kung fu un, started reading it last
night, its quite funny how allen got all his dates and chronology fucked but
I guess thats all part of the charm!
Also picked up Stewart Home's CONFUSION INCORPORATED, really really
interesting, all about pranks, lies, half-truths and disinformation, and
theres a pretty good section with an interview with the guy who wrote the
Biker books for NEL, he also was allen's editor. Picked up an AK books
catalogue and at the back they had some Stewart Home Cds for sale, one's got
his music one and the others filled with his spoken word stuff, anyone heard
it??? I'm particularly interested in hearing what his music's like.
got my Harrington the other day, got it thru Warrior, been on the lookout
for one of those for ages and ages so I was dead chuffed when I finally got
it.
On the subject of Mod music/weller, anyone heard the new Primal Scream Lp???
I reckon they've kinda got that mod thing, in that they draw on other
influences and yet are looking forward and creating nu and original stuff,
though saying that what I've just said cannot be applied to bands
traditionally deemed mod, i.e. secret affair, and all thjose other losers,
the jam they're pretty good, but only cause the transcend that 60s beat
groop thang by taking it a bit further, throwing in the horns and all that
malarky. Plus the scream always manage to look real sharp, esp. under the
difficult circumstances.
Anyone else read the mani interview in On target??? By the ways, whens the
next one out??
Also anyone read that Mod compedium, The sharper Word?? I wanna buy it but
am kinda skint.
yours inquistively.
