I saw an amazing book once called 'You'll Never Be 16 Again', which was done
by the BBC to tie in with a radio prgramme they were doing on youth cults.
The chapter on mods was great, it really went into the style and for once
actually went on about what mod girls wore. It even said, should i mention
this and re-start that other daft debate, that mod comes from the fact that
the kids listened to 'MODern Jazz'. So there. It was a great book, and i had
it out on permanent loan from my school library to do a history essay. I
don't know if it's still in print, but it was really interesting, with
acounts from people who were there and stuff.
The one thing it seemed inaccurate on was stting that 'mods stuck
meaningless initials on their scooters, such as 'SX' and 'SV'.' ermm....
doesn't sound meaningless to me!
