MODS MAYDAY at CLUB SOLID May 6, 2000:
This years event I believe was a success and personally for myself was no
where near the mega-stress over-the-top event that 1999s Mayday event was.
This years event consisted of 10 dj's (not 5) and 4 bands...1999 was 10
bands and 9 dj's.

We again learned a few things about holding a 300-person event at such an
intimate venue that is fais doe-doeand we hope to improve on future events
there. Any feedback, suggestions, ideasare always appreciated by melet me
know!

There was an attempt, actually a plead, to hold the event in the adjoining
"austin powers" ballroom...but to no avail as fais doe-doe mgmt refused to
"put a public" event on due to "state licenses" pending for official
usage...so even as i pleaded to just let us NOT mention that we were going
to use the ballroom...they would not go for it.

I believe a good time was had by all and I want to send out deep-heartfelt,
THANK YOUs! to all the performers, djs, dancers, sharp-dressers,
scooterists (and scooter ride organizers specifically Tim and Chris of
Lambretta Club America). Plus, the sponsors, vendors, and those that gave
away items for the event.

Continued love and appreciation goes to my co-producers and organizers
(Doug, Aime, Jason, and Patrick)without them there would be no
month-to-month Club SOLID or yearly Mods Mayday.

Finally, I most IMPORTANTLY thank all those that showed up to have a good
time and supported the event by paying the $8 to $10 at the door.

On to future events in the MOD-SOUL-60s scene here in California.
Once again the Good Foot Soul Club is upcoming this Friday in Long Beach
(21+)held 2nd Fridays of each month. ThenHipsters club in San Diego is
Saturday (21+)held 2nd Saturdays of each month.
Every Thursday in LA is Caf Bleu (18+...a britpop club).
Every Saturday in LA is Bang (18+mega-multi-room event with a good
dedicated 60s/mod/soul room).
Every Sunday in Long Beach is Get Ready (21+).

Then in 3 weekends the big events of MODS MAYDAY Weekender in San
Franciscoorganized by Kirk & Joe of In NOut Club and the club organizers
from Hip Hugger and Flamingo West (and others I apologize for not
mentioning)AND the annual ORANGE CRUSH scooter rally held that same
weekend here in Orange County.

Id like to thank Kirk & Joe (of In 'N Out-San Fran.) for the personal
invite for a guest dj slot (to Club Solid), adding us to the guest DJ LINEUP
for the Saturday May 27th night of the Mayday Weekender up in San Francisco.
I am greatly looking forward to the trip up there.

Those that are staying in So.Cal. be sure to get the ORANGE CRUSH schedule
and be part of a great annual scooter rally party that has been a fantastic
event for nearly 7 years now. I personally hope to partake in at least
some of the Orange Crush ride events of Sunday afternoon and Monday (after
returning from San Francisco).

The weekend following is the next CLUB SOLID on Saturday, June 3.
And then the major NATIONAL scooter rally event of the summerthe Amerivespa
Rally held in San Diego, comes up the 2nd or 3rd weekend of June.

Thanks again to all...cheers terry.

PS: Thanks Nick Gomez for the review...last year's event was MAY 1st...
and yes, Nick Rossi Set (with David Gleason) was an amazing
performance...someday hope to have the new Rossi Set backdown here...
and hope to have David Gleasons new outfit, which last i heard was The
Sportmen, with Chris Von Sneidern as the frontman.
