Bear in mind that the Monarch is in Camden, which is basically the sweaty
hippies arse of North London.
You're right though it is a shithole of a pub. Fancy a laugh then go to
"London's Only Goth Pub"! (near Sainsbury's).
Walk in order a beer and laugh at everyone - straight in their faces.
I once spent a wonderful afternoon doing just this and seeing these six foot
six blokes with "Death Lord" on their tee shirts bottling it from this
little 5 foot 8 Mod and his 4 foot 11 mate, big crazy pseudo-dead people
huddling with their mates in a sulk.
The barman asked us to leave, we replied "we'd rather not" and that was the
end of that :)
