Joyous Shout! is HAPPY to announce a VERY special evening in NYC on April
2nd as Legendary Jazz Drummer and Bandleader Chico
Hamilton and his young
"Euphoria" group with Cary DeNigris on guitar, Paul
Ramsey on bass, Erik Lawrence
on alto and soprano sax, and Evan Schwam on tenor
sax, perform in the Main Room
at the Knitting Factory, 74 Leonard Street, NYC
10013 Tel 212.219.2006, with one set
at 8 PM
which will be videotaped for broadcast on the BET
on Jazz TV show "Live at
the Knitting Factory" (http://www.knittingfactory.com/television/index.com).
This coming June 12th will see the release of
Chico Hamilton's debut recording for
Koch Jazz, FORESTSTORN. The new album features his
young "Euphoria" group
as well as Special Guest Appearances from Former
Bandmembers Arthur Blythe,
Steve Turre and his wife Akua Dixon, Eric Person,
former Spin Doctors guitarist Eric
Schenkman (a student of Chico's), Blues Traveler
front man John Popper (also a
student of Chico's), and Charlie Watts of The
Rolling Stones. More information on this
upcoming release will be publicized
shortly.
May 2nd will bring Chico being featured on NPR's Jazz Profiles series, hosted by Nancy Wilson. This series is produced by Tim Owens, with Chico's show being reported by Njemile Carol Jones. For further information please point your browser at http://npr.org/programs/jazzprofiles/programs.html.
Chico and his "Euphoria" group will also be performing three nights May 25th, 26th, and 27th performing
at the Grand Opening of Cafe Rouge in Sedona, AZ
for the Prescott
Jazz Society (www.pjazz.org). Starting in June, Chico will be
touring extensively thru the
end of the year in support of the new "Foreststorn"
album.
