I've been professionally (har har) listening to music for more than 20 years
and reading about it for that long, and had never ever heard about the term
Britpop before the advent of the "modern" bands you mention - and the UK
music press calling them that for lack of a better label. Or am I terribly
wrong, and British Pop was shortened britpop in the USA during its 60s
heyday - in the same, wrong, confusing way that modern was shortened Mod?
