 Good on you son.
And hopefully you can arrange for a webacam to be near the bed, and in those
final minutes, while bits of your lung are being coughed up in front of our
very eyes, and just before your heart gives in from the strain and pressure
of all that coughing, we can all share in that magic, and proud moment for
 you.
 A fine moment, I`m sure we`ll all agree. >>

I swear I'm done talking about this, but this post brought up something that
never fails to amaze me. Have you ever noticed that most health care
professionals (especially nurses) smoke like fiends? I can never figure it
out. Go to the cancer ward of any hospital where people are literally just
rotting from the inside and the nurses will all be grouped about, shivering
in the cold to smoke. It really says something about the human capacity for
learning or something.

The other thing is that almost all horn players smoke. Doesn't that seem
rather like a guitarist having a penchant for knifeplay? Anyway, I'm
certainly done preaching on the subject, but I will say that I have seen a
bunch of smoking related deaths and none of them looked very proud. It's
terribly unstylish to not be able to breathe, I think. The gasping and
coughing up bloody pieces can really stain one's cravat and tend to undermine
one's sense of style. And the hole in the throat? so last week.

But enough of that, erm... Dusty in Memphis, great album, eh?
