Oi Andy - so the rest of us on this list are a bunch of monkeys are we ???

I think Paolo Hewitts stuff is pretty samey and not that good...although I'm
sure lots of you out there
will disagree. If you want a slant on fashion then I can let you borrow any
of my "Vogues" - I've got
a huge collection dating from 1958 - 1969 - and it pretty much covers all
styles from the underground mod
look to a more commercialized look ( Including Men's stuff too ). Lots of
features on scooters too. Lots
of very catchy and cute dialogue - kinda a mod language all of it's own.

P.S. - Just for the record....Poly Styrene from X.Ray Specs used to be a Mod
gal !

Andy
Another dissertation on Mod Culture - universities must be sick to death of
it by now!

There's bound to be loads of stuff you can plagiarise. Go on Amazon and buy
all the books - ignore Dick Hebdidge and if there's one book that will give
you all the quotes you need to impress the examiners it's The Young Soul
Stylists by Paolo Hewitt and Paul Weller.
Also a must have is Paolo Hewitt's Mod Anthology book as that's distilled
all the primary sources down to the mod essence - enabling you to quote
widely without actually doing much work!
Richard Barnes book - Mods! is pretty good.
Empire Made is shite avoid it
Mod a very British phenomenon is worth buying.

They'll all be on Amazon.

Finally - don't ask these monkeys what Mod is all about - you'll end up with
a dissertation on X-Ray Specs, Punk, Hippies, faux indie and possibly, if
you're very lucky The Shadows of Knight. At last count there were about 6
Mods on this list. Try the britishmods list (another yahoo group) they are
mostly Mods on there.

Good luck!

ABB

Subject: Question

Ok, I need your help. To start with the computer that I am working on is
typing at a very slow speed and can't keep up. Its really annoying as I
can't see mistakes.

Thats nothing to do with it. Anyway, I'm doing my dissertation on Mod
culture and seeing as I can't fill it up with my own quotes I'd like to take

some and some facts from you guys if thats ok? Also, if you could pass me on

to anywhere that would give me some good info then that would be cool. Thank

you.

For now, a poser for the weekend. What does it mean to be a Mod?

I value anything that you wish to tell me.

Cheers.
