Hmmm...also, on 'Revolver' especially, he developed that exquisite
'discordant-yet-melodic' Rickenbacker guitar sound and inadvertently invented
Paul Weller in the process.

Blue boy, you on here as well.

Have you seen the info on the gropers list as follows :

GEORGE Harrison has died in Los Angeles after a long battle with cancer.

The former Beatle was 58.

He died at a friend's home. His wife, Olivia, and son, Dhani, were at his
side.

Longtime family friend Gavin De Becker said: "He died with one thought in
mind - love one another.

"In 1998, when Harrison disclosed that he had been treated for throat
cancer,
he said: "It reminds you that anything can happen." The following year, he
survived an attack by an intruder who stabbed him several times at his
mansion in Henley on Thames, Oxfordshire. In July 2001, he released a
statement asking fans not to worry about reports that he was still battling
cancerYoko Ono, wife of the late John Lennon, paid tribute to George. She
said
he brought magic to the lives of those who knew him. Ono added that
Harrison's family, who were at his bedside as he died in Los Angeles, was
the
closest and most loving imaginable. She also appealed for the media to keep a
respectful distance from his wife Olivia and son Dhani, 24, the space they
need. She said: "My deep love and concern goes to Olivia and Dhani," she
said.

"The three of them were the closest, most loving family you can imagine.

"George has given so much to us in his lifetime and continues to do so even
after his passing, with his music, his wit and his wisdom. His life was
magical and we all felt we had shared a little bit of it by knowing him.
Thank-you George, it was grand knowing you."

Sir Bob Geldof said he was "shocked and stunned" to hear of Harrison's
death:
"He wasn't a reluctant Beatle. I mean he knew that his place in popular
culture was absolutely secure. "I doubt there's a person listening to this
show that can't remember each one of his guitar lines. Almost uniquely,
everything he played was a hook-line."

Sir Bob said Harrison had given him advice when he was organising the Live
Aid concert in 1985, adding: "I remember him with a profound sense of
gratitude. As he said himself how do you compare with the genius of John and
Paul, but he did, very well."

OH ISN'T IT A PITY

Isn't it a pity.
isn't it a shame
how we break each other's hearts,
and cause each other pain
how we take each other's love,
without thinking anymore
forgetting to give back
isn't it a pity

somethings take so long, but how do i explain?
when not to many people
can see we'er all the same
and because of all their tears'
their eye's can't hope to see
the beauty that surrounds them-
oh isn't it a pity.

OH ISN'T IT A PITY Georges IMAGINE

It's pretty easy to be a critic of Harrison and his grizzly adams appearence
as 4th wave mod enthusiates....Personally , I really dig alot of his solo
work...ambitous, sincere, Krishna bent soft pop. He was also partially
responsible for the fabolous production on my favorite Beatles record,
Revolver. I dunno, it sounds cheezy, but i am genuinly sad about it, even
though I'm far from an expert on Beatles history. Perhaps because it's just
another reminder of the last legs of a dying breed. Or maybe because I have
alot of free time this afternoon. But either way, that's way too young for
a legend like this to go out.

George Harrison brought a lot more to the Beatles, and music in general,
than a lot of people give him credit for. He brought the sitar to the
band and mended east and west together, and I'm sure a lot of those
"Lennon/McCartney" tracks wouldn't have happened without George's input.
Songs like the fuzzed out "Think For Yourself" (my personal favorite of
all Beatles numbers), the social commentary of "Taxman", and the sloppy
brilliance of "It's All Too Much" showed how talented he really was in
his own right. If you ask me 'All Things Must Pass' was by far the best
of the post-Beatle outings by all four of them, an amazing record. I
will certainly miss him!

Yeah, there's some great stuff on that set. The third Lp is just
a bunch of extended jam session crap, but the first two LPs
contain some real gems. And for people that like star-studded rosters
how about this...Produced by Phil Spector, musicians include: Ringo (of
course), Badfinger, Clapton, Dave Mason (well...), Billy Preston, Klaus
Voorman and more which I can't remember without it front of me. It's
like The Ronettes and The Beatles meet religion.

Andy, do you like other tracks on that set, or just "My Sweet Lord"
because he ripped off the Ronettes?

The hives are amazing. As they will tell you if you get to see them on this
tour they will be your new favorite band. This label in Boston called Big
Wheel Recreation did a domestic release of the Main Offender single. Has
anyone seen the video for that song? Its on the CD single, its like Ah-ha
but in the 90s with music from the 60s...
If you go to www.bigwheelrec.com and go to their mp3s they have one up of
the Hives Main Offender. They did the INC Smash It Up single too.
Does anyone have the CD I'm talking about? They were selling it on this
tour, the cd face is like half clear and made to look like an old 45? Its
hot.

Great album, especially Wah Wah and Awaiting On You All.

I ended up going for a drink on Mathew Street (where the Cavern was)
last night and the place was full of flowers. I didn't go 'cos of
George but a few obviously had and there was Alan Williams (1st Beatles
manager) getting drunk in the Grapes (Beatles local) courtesy of the
fans.
