Ms. Dorellik,

I must make your acquaintance. One does not meet a person so scathingly Parkeresque
every day (and now I'm afraid of committing inadvertent sins of spelling or grammar in
an online venue where someone with your sharp attentiveness may be lurking). Keep
casting those stones, baby. Steven, you may be the only person I know under 80 who
prefaces sentences with "oh dear", and Thad, you may spend overmuch time polishing
your scooter (ahem), but I love you all anyway.

I started saying 'oh dear' in the second grade. It's because I was obsessed
with Winnie the Pooh. Before that I used to run around saying 'oh bother..'
but after one parent/teacher conference, I was encouraged to simply modify
the term to, 'oh dear'.

Hello everyone!

It's just a quick note to let anyone who does not yet know about the best
northern soul night in the midlands!

They usually happen at the end of every month and have top dj's such as Derek
Allen & Ady Cope and many guests appearances.

The next soul do is on Saturday the 26th of January featuring (if he behaves
himself) Nottingham's soul survivor Rob Smith.

If you fancy it and believe me it shouldn't be missed it's at the
Wykin and District social club, 22 Fredricks Avenue, Hinckley,
Leicestershire. The admission is on 3.00!!! It kicks off at 7.30 til late!

Some of you may have caught the BBC 2 Mowtown in the midlands documentary
which featured this very soul night a couple of weeks ago!

So if you like Soul Music this really shouldn't be missed! It's a new year
so let's keep it Soulful!

Hope to see you there!

Miss Sixty x

Damn, Arriva! That was very cool. No I mean it. That was 'kinda (note: not a
single quote, but an apostrophe. I use those when knowingly misspelling or
using poor syntax. Check your 8th grade English book; it's just fine.) cool.
Anyway, stick around. As well (There I go again, but once again, it just
fine; check the book.), continue to respond to every email you read with
such 'piss & vinegar; it's charming.

Okay, thanks. One takes one's risks, and bitchiness
is as risky as any of them in a medium in which we

Only the hypocritical suffer my sting, Samantha, esp.
as I am undoubtedly the world's worst typist. Problem
now is, will have to (hafta?) be doublepluscareful
from here on out. And we haven't even gotten to the
records yet (and I suppose I should have specified,
that Rolling Stones Rock 'n' Roll Circus recording of
"A Quick One (While He's Away)"--sorry ...) ...

But I'm genuinely curious, what might you all consider
to be essential Mod reading? It's easy enough to list
the texts on the subject (Cohn, Hebdige, Barnes,
Rawlings, Hewitt, et al.), there are perhaps some
obvious titles that went into the making of the
subject (MacInnes, Pearce, et al.), but ... well, what
else? Let me know ...

And ditto for movies. Rawlings, for example, mentions
Francois Truffaut's Shoot the Piano Player (1960),
which surprised me because I hadn't seen it come up
before in that context, but it makes perfect sense.
Here's a helpful hyperlink ...

http://freespace.virgin.net/david.walker15/visual.html

Morgan!, by the way, is back out now, if only on DVD.
Think The Knack ... and How to Get It, except
substitute International Communism for The Knack and a
gorilla suit for Rita Tushingham. Brilliant!

Subject: praise the lord!(of the rings)

I would definitly be in favor of any sort of Jerry Goldsmiths' tweaked out
orchestrations. I error the spelling of a heavy metal band and merely
suggest that old world fantasy may not necessarily be where 'it's at' and
everyone gets goofy! Well, most all literary critics slammed J.R. during
the original press release times of the books, it was only the through the
enthusiasim of geek power that they ever propelled in popularity.(not unlike

'Braveheart') But hey, i'm not a lit critic, so who cares! Wheres Pablo
anyway?
