Sisters and Brothers rise up - for the one, the only:
The Congregation Sound System!
This Saturday, October 5 [9pm–2am] @ Silk City – 5th & Spring Grdn. Sts.
Phila, PA.
This month we are featuring - Live - straight from the rhythm hive:
Philly Funk/Soul cult hero – HERB JOHNSON and his band!
Plus Special Guest DJ Greggy D from NYC
with your sweet soul sisters – Chetana & Darshana
and DJ Beat Neato (thinking he so odd … no lazy slod … name’s not Todd – or
is it?).
Get set to boggie and celebrate the new CD, ‘Herb Johnson, Remember Me’ from
Dave Brown’s local Philly Archive Records. The first complete retrospective
of Johnson’s recordings spanning from early 1960’s smooth soul to
contemporary post-millennial-neo-electro-funk recordings (yeah, I just made
up a new sub-sub genre there…) but anyway - it will be as good for you as it
is to you. I would never lie - so on your own or with a crew you got to make
it down for you know who!?
Get that damn Liars album off your hi fi player and come on out for a deep
fried – funkified – bastardized – Stax and faxed – Motown with the lowdown –
good old time.
Hell - even your grandma knows Herb Johnson is a killer kool kat – now that’
s where it’s at!
The chicks are gonna lift their skirts so they don’t hit no dirt and boys you
gotta spin round to light up this town!
To get past the door and hit the floor - you must look the part from the very
start.
All this for just 5 of your hard earned jive!
Take Care,
DJ BEAT NEAT O

written consent of her lovelorn heart]
