Is it possible to use the shared memory cache with Linux?

I'm using apache 1.3.6 and compiled mod_ssl 2.3.3.1.3.6 with
--enable-rule=EAPI, but I get this error when I start apache:

Starting httpd:
Syntax error on line 992 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf:
SSLSessionCache: shared memory cache not useable on this platform
                                                           [FAILED]

I also have ramdisk support compiled into my 2.2.9 kernel. Is there any
way to enable shared memory caches in Linux or is it just not possible?
