I've today received the latest statistic numbers from Netcraft and E-Soft Inc.
and updated http://www.modssl.org/news/statistic.html for us. Here are the
tables of this webpage:

| * Netcraft Survey for Apache+mod_ssl:

| 199910 1004773 55.32% 58881 5.88%

As you can see the Apache share of mod_ssl grew dramatically the last month
(E-Soft Inc. calculated the growth to 45%). I'm not sure what the actual
reason is (beside general popularity of the module). But I guess it is related
to the fact that lots of websites now finally upgraded to Apache 1.3.9 and by
this chance also decided to now put an SSL solution into the server, too.

At least this time (as E-Soft Inc's details also show) the growth of mod_ssl
was not directly related to a corresponding shrink at the Ben-SSL side
(Ben-SSL also grew, although a lot less). OTOH the latest mod_ssl numbers
cannot be totally wrong, because _both_ companies detected such a larger
growth of mod_ssl for the last month. So I've to conclude that at least some
interesting evolution for mod_ssl currently takes place.... ;)
