I tried exactly the same on RedHat 7.2, with the same result. If there is a way round this I'd like to know as well, as for now I've given up on Apache 2.0 with RedHat 7.2.
Out of interest, is the user and group set to "apache" in the httpd.conf file. Does the "apache" user and group exist? Finally, have you removed (or not installed) the apache version rpm that comes with Red Hat 7.2? Thanks.
