You might also send this to the module author. :)
On a side note to this, and I don't mean this to be critical, but you
might get better results if your email to the author used a more polite
tone. Something like:
"I have created a patch for your module that adds functionality,
and addresses a couple of RT bugs. Are you still actively
maintaining the code?"
Ok the author did not respond since then :) What should I do now?
If several attempts to contact the author via all available channels
have failed over a period of time (several weeks to a month or so)
contact the modules@perl.org mailing list stating the module you want to
fix, and the steps you have taken to contact the author.
The PAUSE admins there might ask you a question or two, and then will
override the namespace permissions and give you co-maintainer rights to
the distribution.
This will let you upgrade new versions of the distribution and have them
recognized by the indexer, and thus installed by the CPAN client.
If the original author ever returns, he maintains "ownership" of the
namespace and can remove those rights. However, in practice most authors
appreciate someone taking over while they were away, and often hand over
primary rights to the namespace to the new maintainer.
