thanks to everybody who replied. Since there seems to be a general consensus
that the double dot version ("2.x.y" or "v2.x.y") are not a good idea for CPAN
modules, I will go with a 2.xxyyy scheme instead where "xx" adds new features
and the "yyy" is for bug-fixes or patch releases.
